Explosion Kills 40, Injures 60 in Kabul, Afghanistan
A meeting of Islamic scholars has been interrupted by a deadly explosion that has killed at least 40 to 50 and injured at least 60 to 70 more on Tuesday. The meeting of clerics was at Uranus Hall in the PD15 district in the capital of Afghanistan, Kabul.
Initial reports show a suicide bomber, but no group at the time of this writing has yet taken responsibility for the blast. Eyewitnesses have estimated around a thousand people to have been present at the time of the blast.
Acts of terror occur frequently in Afghanistan, but this is an irregularly high death toll.
