NBC Reporter Assaulted By Left-Wing Demonstrator At White Nationalist Rally

The legacy media have accused President Trump of advocating for violence against journalists after he allegedly called the press the “enemy of the people,” but it was left-wing protesters who confronted and attacked reporters at a white nationalist rally in Washington, D.C. on Sunday.

Cal Perry, who was covering the rally for NBC News, captured footage of a member of the self-styled “anti-fascist” counter-protest calling him a “snitch a** news b****,” other profanities, and shoving the camera from his hands.

The attack occurred at a rally devoted to the one-year anniversary of the Unite the Right event in Charlottesville, Va., where white nationalists and left-wing counter protesters clashed at the site of a Confederate monument. Perry recorded further confrontational behavior and hostility by left-wing counter protesters against the media:

Establishment news organizations have widely condemned the president for calling their content “fake news,” while the Washington Post claims he is “fomenting violence” against journalists and members of the press.

However, the attack and verbal abuse by a member of a left-wing group could set a precedent for the legacy media to change their tune, including CNN. Host of the network’s “State of the Union” Jake Tapper condemned the attack as well as the “anti-fascist” group at large for encouraging anti-press behavior. “Totally unacceptable and not at all out of the norm for Antifa,” Tapper posted on Twitter.

Brian Stetler, a senior correspondent for CNN, also condemned the left-wing group’s behavior against journalists in a tweet. “Unacceptable behavior by a protester in C’Ville last night — violently swatting away a journalist’s camera — I asked @CalNBC for more info, and he deferred to his tweets, which described the protest as ‘almost exclusively Antifa at that point.”

Unfortunately, it appears CNN could still use some improvement, according to one Twitter user:

But NBC didn’t even air the clip of their own reporter being physically assaulted by an antifa member, according to NewsBusters. One year ago, the news network’s political director Chuck Todd endorsed the left-wing’s violent tactics and even promoted his show “Meet the Press” as a platform for their agenda.

Vox, another news website critical of Trump’s stance against the press, acknowledged that Sunday’s gathering of white nationalists in the capital was largely peaceful and that there were scuffles between left-wing extremists against police and journalists.

NPR reporter Tim Mak captured footage of the left-wing Antifa group hurling fireworks, water bottles and eggs at police and upon some reporters – including himself.

theDailyLead contacted Mak after seeing the horrific images from the march yesterday that he tweeted. Mak said, “The tweets speak for themselves” and did not comment any further.

After a shooting at the Capital Gazette office which left five journalists dead, Trump briefly addressed the tragedy saying “journalists, like all Americans, should be free from the fear of being violently attacked while doing their job.”
