A threat to democracy #9: cosponsors of Assault Weapons Ban of 2018 (H.R 5087).
On February 26th, almost two weeks after the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School massacre, Rep. David Cillicine (D-RI) introduced H.R 5087, known as the ‘Assault Weapons Ban of 2018’. Very much like the Assault Weapons Ban of 1994, this bill only wants to ban semi-automatic weapons.
The bill summarizes that, if passed, a person who possesses a semi-automatic weapon (SAW) will be a federal criminal. However, it also states, “The prohibition does not apply to a firearm that is: (1) manually operated by bolt, pump, lever, or slide action; (2) permanently inoperable; (3) an antique; or (4) a rifle or shotgun specifically identified by make and model.”
So if a ‘rifle’ or ‘shotgun’ will not be banned, the next question is how will that prevent school shooters from shooting up a school again? Although the answer is quite sophisticated, the cosponsors of this bill aren’t. Let’s begin.
*Note: H.R 5087 has 175 cosponsors, 0 Independents, 0 Republicans, 175 Democrats.
Keith Ellison (D-MI), one of two Muslim Congressmen, has defended anti-semite and racist leader Louis Farrakhan and denies it to this day.
Frederica Wilson (D-Fl), who doesn’t like guns, is protected by armed security guards 24/7 and does not support the idea of armed security guards in schools.
James Clyburn (D-SC), the third highest ranking Democrat in the House, also shared a stage with Louis Farrakhan. He also said that “Republicans stood on the sideline” for Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security in 2012. On the vote for Social Security, Republicans overwhelmingly supported the bill. On Medicare and Medicaid, a majority of Republicans voted for the bill in the House, as did a significant minority in the Senate.
Al Green (D-TX) led TWO votes to begin impeachment articles against President Trump, and who wants his fellow constituents and voters to know about his romantic past.
Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) stormed out of President Trump’s first State of the Union address because of Trump’s ineptness and racist personality, calling him a ‘KKK leader’ and a ‘Neo-Nazi’. Anything that he disagrees with is racist. Whether it’s in John Kelly’s policies or thinking President Trump is a ‘threat to my grandchildren‘, he seems to be out of context mostly everywhere he goes and everything he says.
Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) literally booted a woman back to Premium Economy on a United flight just so Rep. Lee could sit in First Class. Typical of her, she played the race card and accused United Airlines of not booking her that seat solely because “she’s an African American woman”. That wasn’t the first time. In 1998, she screeched at a fight attendant saying, “”Don’t you know who I am?” she reportedly shrieked. “I’m Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee. Where is my seafood meal? I know it was ordered!” To wrap it up, she violates House rules everyday by being chauffeured in a government car at the taxpayers’ expense.
Not to mention, she called one of her employees a ‘stupid motherf*****‘. Not just once, ‘all of the time’. According to the same staffer, Jackson Lee “would always say, ‘What am I a prostitute? Am I your prostitute? You can’t prostitute me.’” Classy, right?
Joseph Kennedy III (D-MA) has been world renowned to be known as the ‘Democratic political dynasty’ while having the ‘Kennedy dynasty’ on his back forever. Let’s get this straight while we’re at it: if his name was John Jones and didn’t have Kennedy in his name, he would have a much, much harder time getting his way to being in the House. Yet, he sought fame with his ‘rebuke’ against President Trump’s SOTU address.
It’s also nice to know Congressman Kennedy is keeping his mind open to other opinions when him and his family beat a pinata with Trump’s face on it.
Jared Huffman (D-CA) is another Congressman that voted ‘yay’ on advancing an impeachment process against POTUS.
Barbara Lee (D-CA) advocated for the destruction of more Confederate statues and skipped President Trump’s State of the Union in January and could not handle her emotions while discussing his inauguration. Alongside Congressman Huffman and Nancy Pelosi, she was literally shouted down at by Dreamers while trying to fight for them.
Ted Lieu (D-CA) tried to gain some political feud with AG Jeff Sessions by tweeting pictures of him taking an oath before a committee hearing, labeling him as “Lyin’ Jeff Sessions” and jokingly mistook him as Kate Mckinnon from Saturday Night Live due to his beliefs that he has lied under oath. During an interview with CNN, anchors asked him regarding this, “You called him a liar even before he appeared in front of you. Why prejudge him?”
His answer: “Because he lied to U.S Senate”. He had no basis to back his claim.
Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) yet another faulty and clumsy representative who needs no introduction. You can find all of her political stunts and ignorance here: A threat to democracy #8: Nancy Pelosi.
Last but not least, there is Beto O’Rourke (D-TX). Beto, whose real name is Robert Francis, wants to take away your guns forever. This one will be a long one.
Beto is currently running against Senator Ted Cruz for a seat in the Senate. Now, while he has been catching some uproar from millennial Democrats and being the Democrats ‘last hope’, Beto would make Texas want to abolish itself.
On Monday, Beto appeared on The Chad Hasty Show. Hasty asked O’Rourke, “Have you seen yet to where you would vote to impeach the president?” His answer, “The answer is yes, because I want to be straight with you. I’ve seen an attempt, no matter how ham-handed, to collude with a foreign government in our national election. I’ve seen an effort to obstruct justice in the investigation of what happened in the 2016 election. As many Republicans as well as Democrats senators and House members have said, I don’t think that President Trump has the fitness or competence or judgment to be in that position.” Someone should tell him to go take a look at the House Intelligence Committee’s report.
On the 2nd Amendment, Hasty asks, “You said that no one should be able to buy an AR-15. … I own an AR-15; a lot of our listeners own AR-15’s; why should they not have one?” Beto responds, “To be clear, they should have one, if you purchased, if you own it, keep it.” Okay, you’re cosponsoring a bill…that wants to do exactly the opposite of what you’re saying.
Lastly, his stance on healthcare is incredibly dumbfounding to what could be a Senator. Hasty: “How does the United States, overall, pay for universal health care?”
O’Rourke: “Let’s think about how we pay for it now…” Beto dodged the question and used anecdotes to tell Hasty how a universal healthcare system would only make people ‘more productive’.
If you follow his social media platforms, you’ll know day in and day out he constantly says, “No PACs, just people.” Wrong. According to the FEC, he has taken a combined $313,000 in PACs. In this Facebook video of his, he states towards this end: “I’m one of two members of Congress out of 535 that takes no corporate cash, no political action committee money.” You can find the information here: Beto O’ Rourke FEC findings.
In summary, these Democrats have zero clue what they’re doing in Congress and have no idea what’s going to come towards them regarding the 2nd Amendment.
Just remember: “The right to bear arms *shall not be infringed upon*”.
