theDailyLead article of the week: Obama’s hypocrisy and Senators for #SchumerShutdown.
Then- Senator Obama said the following in 2006:
““Those who enter the country illegally, and those who employ them disrespect the rule of law. They are showing disregard for those who are following the law. We simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected, undocumented, unchecked, and circumventing the line of people who are waiting patiently and lawfully to become immigrants.”
I had some friends respond on Facebook, coming with the argument of Obama “having the most deportations as President” and a quote from President Trump in 2013 blaming President Obama for a government shutdown. I’ll get back to those comments, but right now, I’m going to address the hypocrisy brought on by Obama.
Obama had expressed many duplicitous statements, such as “with respect to the notion that I can just suspend deportations through executive order, that’s just not the case.” He claimed that he’s “not a king” in regards to letting illegals in, and “[I] could not just bypass Congress and change the (immigration) law myself. … That’s not how a democracy works”, yet that’s exactly what he did.
This could’ve been said simply to gain American popularity or either endure ignorance at the highest level. But returning to the comments on the first quote.
Someone had stated that Obama had the most deportations as POTUS. However, that is FALSE. Under the Clinton Administration, President Bill Clinton’s 7 years in office led to almost 12,290,000 million illegal aliens deported compared to Obama’s 5,280,000.
Another had a quote from Trump saying that “A shutdown falls on the President’s lack of leadership. He can’t even control his party and get people together in a room. A shutdown means the President is weak.” Ok, fair point. He does have the majority for both chambers, but this was on Democrats because a 51-person Republican majority could not have overridden a Senate filibuster requiring 60 votes to terminate, contrary to immediately blaming the President and claiming that it’s all his fault, that this was yet another failure of his.
But the shutdown did in fact fall in the hands Senator Cory Booker, who had compared DHS Secretary Niehlsen as a Nazi, Elizabeth Warren, who claimed she was Indian-American for a triple digit salary job at Harvard with no DNA evidence, Kamala Harris, who constantly bullies her fellow constituents, Robert Menendez, who had a 68 page list of charges against him, and Richard Blumenthal, who lied about serving and fighting in the Vietnam War. Not to mention, Chuck Schumer had actually said during the shutdown under Obama that “Unless I get my way, I’m gonna shut the government down” and ” It’s a politics of idiocy”. Seems like he has a different view on his own #SchumerShutdown.
These Democratic Senators along with many others voted to shutdown the government after there was no solution on DACA and no extension for CHIP instead of a temporary spending bill.
Left-leaning websites, such the New York Times, Slate, CNN, and TheHill said that Democrats spooked, caved, and for that, are to blame for the shutdown.
Senator Claire McCaskill from Missouri claimed that “Never before in the history of this nation has the government been shut down with one party in control of both Congress and the Presidency. Never.” Sure enough, this is FALSE once again. The federal government shut down FIVE times under Democrat Jimmy Carter when Democrats controlled both chambers. Another sign of incompetence.
Kirsten Gillibrand, another hypocritical failure of this country who voted to shutdown the government, actually fundraised for rapist Bill Clinton and sexual predator Al Franken. Senator Gillibrand campaigned with Clinton and wished him happy birthday on numerous occasions, but called for his resignation, creating a character of opportunism.
Talk about double standards.
