When a riot between white nationalists and the “Refuse Facism” organization broke out in Charlottesville, Virginia, and when Black Lives Matter activist Micah Johnson opened fire on police in Dallas, killing five law enforcement officers, questions have risen since then as to what these groups motive really is. How come these events had unfolded the way they did? What is the ultimate goal of the organizations?
It all began with the “Refuse Facism” movement. Their motto is “This Nightmare Must End! The Trump/Pence Regime Must Go! In the Name of Humanity, We REFUSE to Accept a Fascist America”. For starters, it’s a bit far-fetched to compare a presidency under the ideology of classical republicanism with a form of dictatorial, authoritarian power. That said, this is already a nonsensical movement. This movement was the backbone of the violent riots in Berkeley. After then- Breitbart editor Milo Yiannopoulous was scheduled to speak, he was soon forced to cancel after fires erupted by students at the University of California Berkeley campus. Students also assaulted bystanders and pepper sprayed Trump supporters or even suspected advocates.
An anarchist group in Charlottesville at the time of the riot, CrimethInc, says that in order for white supremacy to be erased, anarchy is necessary. Their aim is to eliminate all law enforcement and the principles of capitalism. “We have to work together to keep ourselves safe and reimagine the world without them,” read in a statement by CrimethInc.
Then there is the World Workers Party, a group made up of Marxist-Leninist adherents as well as support for Kim Jung-Un and Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro. The goal of the socialist devotees is classic Marxism, sparking an international socialist revolution and dream of “the shutdown of the Pentagon and the use of the war budget” — that is, the funding for the Department of Defense — “in order to improve the lives of the working class and especially the oppressed peoples.” Of course, the political ideology of socialism, whether democratic or not, has proved to be a failed atrocity, killing almost 84 million people in the past century.
Now to the Black Lives Matter movement. Although the narrative has been displayed numerous times, no. Black Lives Matter is not filled with hypocrisy. It’s simpler than that: they shun the facts and evidence and purposefully mislead themselves in order to cause unrest.
Indeed, there are many cases suggesting police officers abused their power and unethically murdered men and women. But what the media suggests is that black men are never safe from authorities. That narrative is false. According to the Washington Post in 2016, only 16 unarmed black men were killed by police out of a population of 20 million. In 2015, the number was 36, showing a significant decrease. This report includes the cases of justified shootings.
A report from the PPCS (Police-Public Contact Survey) suggests black men have 0.32 contacts with police while white men have 0.35 in any given year. But it is true that black men are overrepresented for many who have had contacts with police. However, the margin is slim. Only 1.5 percent of black men have more than three contacts with the police in any given year, whereas 1.2 percent of white men do.
Moreover, racial bias is doubtful to explain a big factor of the discrepancy. National Crime Victimization Survey data from 2015 (the most recent year available from them) indicates that black men are 3 times more likely to commit violent crimes as white men. This leads the narrative that it is in fact more likely for police to use force for violent crimes. But don’t let that be misconstrued with the fact that, in a few cases, bias plays a major role when policemen confront black men. But that leads me back to my argument: racial bias is doubtful to explain a big factor of the discrepancy.
On contrary to what much of the leftist mainstream media would like to believe, police brutality has fallen drastically since the 1990s, but their narrative misguides you to promote the idea that it has actually increased, which is what most Americans believe.
So, what does this have to do with Black Lives Matter? I’ll put it this way: Blue Lives Matter, White Lives Matter, Yellow Lives Matter, you get the gist. All Lives Matter. The mainstream media haven’t lifted a finger on reporting the cases of white males Dylan Noble and Daniel Shaver, both fatally shot by police while being unarmed. BLM never mentioned it. But BLM also riot on cases that are justified.
In August of 2016, BLM took to the streets the death of 23 year old Sylville Smith who was shot and killed by a police officer. The movement had been outraged and vandalised, looted, and burned down businesses in response. Devotees were chanting “black power!” and striking any white person in sight. Not only were they not protected under the First Amendment, they were also destroying the lives of others who had absolutely nothing to do with this. That’s not the only problem. Smith had illegally obtained a pistol and when police asked him to put it down, he did not. Smith also had a history of past events according to Captain Mark Stanmeyer of the Baltimore Police Department.
Another major problem the BLM rioters didn’t take into account: the police officer who shot Smith was black. Of course, there is and never will be any moral equivalency in using coerce force. But groups like BLM and the majority rather than the minority in the United States are incredibly misled on this topic. To me, and to many other core conservatives, it is a head-scratcher. The mainstream media misses the rather “joyful” side of law enforcement when police officers go out of their way to play basketball, sell lemonade, and practice hopscotch with the citizens that they are protecting.
Like in the beginning, All Lives Matter. Whether it be the 933,000 law enforcement personnel that seek the well being of you, these men and women put on kevlar vests so you don’t have to.
All in all, these movements want everything to go their way, whether it be in the manner of peace or disorder. Antifa followed in the footsteps of Refuse Facism and other anarchist organizations that can’t seem to accept the result of the election and claiming that the Trump presidency is a Facist led administration. Black Lives Matter deliberately misinform their followers so that they can start a national uproar in return for attention.
